St Mary’s Catholic School Year 6 Students Awarded Torbay & Devon Civic Award 2018

4 Year 6 students from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School (Buckfast) were successfully awarded the Torbay and Devon Civic Award 2018.

Congratulations to:

  • Niamh Green
  • Darcie Taylor
  • Venitia Contrasti
  • Louis Norman

All Year 6 pupils at St Mary’s are given the opportunity to work towards the Civic Award, but individual pupils  choose to take on this commitment, which involves extra work at lunch time and in their own time.

As a school, we are incredibly proud of those who have achieved the award, as it demonstrates resilience and commitment to complete all of the activities.  The pupils who have taken part in the award have great pride in what they have achieved.  The assessors were once again impressed with the quality of evidence in each person’s portfolio.

The children at St Mary’s have put a lot of time and energy into activities based in school such as being a ‘buddy’ at lunchtime for younger pupils.

They have also helped to run a Fair trade tuck shop.

The children took part in a range of activities during our activities week and residential trip.

Along with fundraising and new hobbies, children carried out lots of voluntary work in their own time too…
