Torbay Times attends Torbay Civic Award Presentation

Torbay Times were delighted to attend the annual presentation evening for the Torbay Civic Awards which took place at Torquay Boys Grammar School on Wednesday the 8th of July.

235 pupils from 14 local primary schools received their Award certificates from councillor Anne Brookes along with a commemorative pen from Peter Williams president of Babbacombe and St Marychurch Rotary Club who are ongoing supporters of the awards scheme.

Hundreds of proud parents also attended the event to witness their sons and daughters receiving their respective awards.

Deputy Head of St Marychurch Primary school Karen Thomson is the main Co-ordinator of the Torbay Civic Awards scheme and started it all 10 years ago with just 12 children ,it now has approaching 1500 students in total who have received their awards in that time.

Congratulations to all the inspirational students who received their awards on Wednesday from all of us here at Torbay Times newspaper and of course to Karen and all her awards team leaders from all the other primary schools involved and we are sure the Torbay Civic Awards scheme will go from strength to strength.
