I have been completing the work for the Civic award ever since Oldway was visited by one of the Civic award staff members. I feel passionately about things like this and really enjoy taking part in them.
Chosen Charity
The charity I have chosen to fundraise for is Rowcroft, who support people with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones. They help people live their life’s fully with loved ones, friends and family. Every year my mum and nan take part in the sleep walk, which I am sure you have heard about. The past two years I have walked it with them the first one I did was in2018 when I walked 10miles and the second one was 2019 when I walked 5 miles with my friends. Unfortunately due to lockdown Rowcroft have not been able to run the sleep walk this year but they have come up with a solution and my family will be walking to Angels on Babbacombe Downs and back to my house, which is ten miles to support them with their sleep walk your way. I can’t wait and we hope to raise lots of money to support them.
My grandad also takes part in rotary and they make shoe boxes to fill with toys and gifts to give to adults and children who would not normally be able to afford nice things at special times. It is called the shoe box appeal, last Christmas I helped grandad promote this at school and made a box to give to them.

Active Citizenship in School
My active citizen ship in school is being given the opportunity to be Head girl, I was given head girl at the start of year six.
I had to write a letter to Mrs Meyer and Mrs Milligan to say why I would like to be head girl and what I could do for the school. Letters were given out telling us whether we got through to the next round. I did but unfortunately my best friends didn’t. After a couple of weeks we had interviews with our PowerPoints we had made to present to them. That afternoon we got told and I was lucky to have been chosen. That Madame feel very proud as I feel like I have always been committed to my school, I was a school councillor in year 3 and was awarded the unsung hero in the same year. I have done speeches as head girl, made some decisions and done some assemblies. I have also volunteered to help out in year 1 and reception whilst in year 6 and be a library monitor but unfortunately this wasn’t for long as school had to close.

Active Citizenship in Home Community
My active community citizenship is helping out at the junior and adult park runs , which is based at the Clennon valley velopark. I sometimes run the children’s and adult’s parkruns but sometimes I just help out. When I volunteer I collect the runners barcodes and scan them so that they can have a run time, I also help tidy up after, in the past have also given out tokens when runners finish and time the runners.

Active Hobbies
My active hobbies are swimming and running. I have done swimming since I was 3, I started swimming in the Oldway pool, but then moved to Clennon Valley. I have taken part in 4 school swimming galas, I really enjoy swimming and would like to swim professionally one day. I have only taken up running in the past 2 years but my mum has run in clubs for quite a while now. I have taken part in lots of running races over the past 2 years and also enjoy taking part in the local park runs.

Non-Active Hobbies
My non active hobbies are cooking, drawing and pin art. Over the past year I have made many dishes when cooking such as, spaghetti Bolognese, lasagne, pancakes, fry ups, paella and lots of other things. I have also done lots of drawings of animals and people. I also got bought lots of pin art pictures that I have made. I have made a seahorse and shoes. I have just started to learn how to crotchet since lockdown I am finding it very tricky but I am preserving and I hope to make a Harry Potter toy once I know the basics.

Residential Experience
My adventure training was going to Heatree. Before we went on lockdown, year six was taken to Heatree activity Centre for a week. While I was there I took part in orienteering, rock scrambling, kayaking, raft building, low adventure and high adventure (high ropes). I had a great time at Heatree and definitely pushed my self out of my comfort zone.
