Hannah Brodbelt, Heather Mosely and Amy Williams held an awareness assembly at Bovey Tracey Primary School to raise the profile for their chosen charity ‘toilet twinning’.
They dealt with a tricky subject with maturity and sensitivity whilst managing to get the key issues across.
The charity have engaged well with them and sent them various items to help promote their work.
Next week they will be holding a fund raising event by bringing a toilet to the playground (yes a real one!!) and asking people to throw loose change into it. All monies raised will go to the project. They have also prepared more interesting facts for the event.
2.4 billion people don’t have somewhere safe, clean and hygienic to go to the loo. That’s more than a third of the people on the planet.
Toilet Twinning funds the work of international relief and development agency Tearfund. Donation’s will be used to provide clean water, basic sanitation, and hygiene education. This vital combination works together to prevent the spread of disease.
Children are healthier, and able to go to school; parents are well enough to work their land and grow enough food to feed their family. With better health, and more ability to earn a living, men and women discover the potential that lies within them to bring transformation.
